Fundraising Success

A member of the Basis Yorkshire team has been very busy with a successful fundraising attempt! Carwen Jones, Young Persons Outreach Worker for Basis Young People, completed a sponsored ramble on Saturday 10th October.  This was inspired by Countryfile’s ‘Children in Need Ramble’.  Thousands of people took part in a ramble all across the UK to raise money for Children in Need.  Carwen is very much an indoors kind of girl and loves her bed, so an early morning ramble was the perfect challenge!

Carwen says “Children in Need fund my post within the young person’s team, so I felt it only right to join in.  I did my own individual ‘moderate ramble’ which was be 5.5 miles around Holmfirth.  I completed a ‘practice run’ which was maybe not the best idea as it left me with aching legs and blisters to add to my challenge.”

Carwen completed the ramble in an impressive 2 hours and 45 minutes, beating her practice time. Her fundraising total currently stands at an amazing £276.26! All money raised will be divided equally between Children in Need and Basis Yorkshire.  To donate, please see her Just Giving page using the link below:
