Carwen Jones

Young Persons Outreach Worker since March 2014

What I do

I work with girls who are being sexually exploited or at significant risk thereof. I work on a 1:1 basis, meeting the girls either in school, our offices or elsewhere in the community. After a period of developing a trusted relationship we go through a series or offering personalised weekly sessions , covering topics such as healthy relationships, risk and internet grooming. I also support the work of the Peer Support Group (Lionesses).

What I did before

I worked as a Connexions Advisor supporting young people to overcome the barriers preventing them from engaging in Employment, Education or Training.

A little bit about me

I have lived in Yorkshire all of my life and began working in Leeds in 2010. I LOVE LOVE LOVE this city and like to spend a lot of my free time exploring!! I love going to gigs and have a diverse taste in music….from The XX to Eminem!! My cat Saso is the love of my life and I am fondly referred to as ‘crazy cat lady’ by my work colleagues. I like to spoil him lots and he has more toys than most children 
