CSE Campaign 2017 #itsnotyourfault

Despite increased recognition of the issue, children and young people are still being sexually exploited in Leeds, N. Yorkshire and elsewhere around the country. Young people should never have to experience such exploitation and they should never be made to feel its their fault.

On 18th of March we will therefore be supporting National Day to end Child Sexual Exploitation (CSE) This year we’re excited to announce that Basis Young People (Leeds) and Time 2 (N. Yorkshire) will be doing something special in the week leading up to the Day – with as our main event:

Listen UP –

Listen UP ….. is an exhibition, co-produced by ex-service users, all of whom who have experienced sexual exploitation. This interactive, experiential exhibition depicting the journey of a young person who is being sexually exploited, from the first instance of not recognising and resisting support, to moving on after child sexual exploitation.  It will highlight the feelings, thoughts and words of wisdom of young people about their experience of sexual exploitation – enabling the visitor to feel what the young person experiences. It will make it clear that its never a young persons fault and that we should all Listen UP.

The Leeds exhibition will be open from 3 to 8 pm, the times below indicate when there will be a brief presentation on the background of the exhibition and a short movie will be shown bout CSE, co-produced by young people.

Location: East Street Art Hostel (Kirkgate 83, Leeds)

Times: 15 Mar ( 5:30) | 16 Mar (4: 30 – and 5:30) | 17 Mar (4:30)

We also want to use the campaign to raise awareness of CSE and  much needed funds for our work.  Due to insufficient funding, we have a waiting list both in N .Yorkshire and Leeds and when young people are medium to high risk or experiencing exploitation , this is unacceptable.
