Becki (She/her)

Child Sexual Abuse & Exploitation Specialist (LGBTQ+) since October 2022

My role

As a sexual abuse and exploitation specialist (working with young people who identify as LGBTQ+) my role is to provide bespoke trauma-informed 1:1 and group support to those who at risk of experiencing, are experiencing, or have experienced sexual abuse and/or exploitation. My role is to develop trusting relationships and offer a safe space for young people to be heard while providing support around topics such as consent, sexual health, boundaries, online safety, self-esteem, and healthy relationships. I help empower and support LGBTQ+ young people to move forward in their lives following their experiences of trauma and abuse.

My background

I previously worked on the adult team at Basis before transitioning to the young people's team. I've supported adults and young people in a variety of settings, including rape crisis and sexual violence services, drug and alcohol services, and autism/ADHD specialist services. I have a Master's degree in Psychology and I'm also trained in counselling, mindfulness-based therapies, and yoga therapy.

I love yoga, meditation, and mindfulness, as well as lifting weights at the gym to help maintain my mental well-being. I'm always experimenting with new vegan recipes (especially sweet stuff like brownies or waffles!) and spend most of my spare time hanging out with friends or doing something fun that pushes me out of my comfort zone (like a random dance class or art workshop). I'm passionate about holistic wellness, feminism, and LGBTQ+ rights.
