Catherine Tottie (she/her)

Housing Influencing Change Worker since December 2020

My role

I am a Housing Influencing Change Worker, meaning I work to push for change in the systems and pathways that support women sex workers to obtain or maintain permanent homes. I work with agencies across Leeds to challenge barriers into housing, working towards the wider goal of ending homelessness for good.

My background

I am originally from York, and moved back to the city to complete a Masters in Applied Human Rights. It was during the course of this that I found my interest in homelessness and housing rights. I have since worked in Housing Support and as an IDVA, as well as volunteering for the Human Rights City network to explore implementation of Housing First. I now split my time between working with Basis and managing a day centre for people experiencing homelessness and social exclusion in York.

A little bit personal about me

I am always on the go and love hill walking, playing rugby (second row, if you’re interested!) and yoga. I am a huge reader and animal person, and have two cats who routinely join in on Zoom calls. I’m also very enthusiastic about ice cream.
