Independent Sexual Violence Adviser Since September 2021
I am currently the ISVA at Basis, working collaboratively with other services to provide tailored emotional and practical support to women who have experienced sexual violence. I ensure that these women’s voices are heard and that they have access to any specialist sexual violence services they need. If a woman chooses to report to the police, I provide support throughout the criminal justice process.
After studying Law and Criminology as an undergraduate in Sheffield, I went on to complete a master’s degree in Law. My studies centred on criminal law and human rights, particularly in relation to violence against women, and my dissertation explored the prevalence of rape myths within the criminal justice system. I have since worked as a paralegal, IMHA and ISVA before coming to work for Basis.
A little bit personal about me
Outside of work I enjoy spending time with my partner, family and friends, cooking (eating), running and looking after my two guinea pigs. I grew up in Whitby and am happiest when I’m relaxing somewhere by the sea.
