Nicola Hardman

Mental Health Outreach Worker since May 2019

My role

I am the Mental Health Outreach Worker within the Adult Team. I work 1:1 with women experiencing mental health issues in order to provide emotional and practical support. Together we prioritise issues to enable the women to stay safe and make informed positive choices.

My background

After completing my Youth and Community Diploma (DipHE Youth and Community Studies) I volunteered and worked for Women's Health Matters as a Domestic Violence Support Worker for 13 years. I joined Basis in October 2017. My first role was as the Historic CSE/A Worker where I supported women who have experienced child sexual exploitation and/or abuse. I worked with women around current or historical issues affecting their lives and worked with them on issues such as: housing and benefits, family relationships, confidence and self-esteem, sexual health and abusive relationships. I have also worked within the New Futures project and covered maternity leave within the Young People’s project. I am excited to be working as the new Mental Health Outreach Worker within the Live Well Leeds partnership.

A little bit personal about me

My spare time is dedicated to spending time with my family and friends. I am a very proud mum of two young adults and two cats. I enjoy driving, listening to music (especially live music), hot weather, travelling, cats both big and small and eating nice food.
