Nicola Hardman

Young Person's Outreach Worker (covering maternity leave)

My role

As a Young Person's Outreach Worker I work 1:1 with girls and young women who are being sexually epxloited or significant risk thereof - building their trust, establishing a relationship, raising their awareness of the risks they are facing and how to reduce these through talking to them about CSE and related issues such as online safety, health relationships, sexual health etc. I also deliver training to other professionals in Leeds and elsewhere to other professionals and deliver awareness sessions in schools about CSE, online safety and consent.

My background

After completing my Youth and Community Diploma (DipHE Youth and Community Studies) I volunteered and worked for Women's Health Matters as a Domestic Violence Support worker for 13 years. I joined Basis originally as the historic CSE/A worker where I supported women who have experienced child sexual exploitation and/ or abuse. I worked with women around current or historical isues effecting their lives and worked with them on issues such as; housing and benefits, family relationships, confidence and self esteem, sexual health and abusive relationships. I am excited to move into my new role as a New Futures Worker!

A little bit personal about me

My spare time is dedicated to spending time with my family and friends. I am a very proud mum of two young adults and two cats. I enjoy driving, listening to loud music especially live music, hot weather, travelling, cats both big and small and eating nice food.
