Navigation Adult Support Worker since April 2020

My role

My role is to provide appropriate emotional and practical support to women with multiple and complex needs. Working with a harm reduction ethos prioritising women's safety and wellbeing, enabling women to access support and navigate services exiting/transitioning out of sex work. Ensuring that women with varying needs are supported effectively throughout the pathway of support with Basis and partners, advocating for and with women that we work with.

My background

In my varied career I have worked mostly in the voluntary sector as a support worker working with women, children/young people and with individual's with multiple needs. In my career I started as a Latch key worker within a nursery setting went to working at Women's Aid as a childcare support worker, Worked in several Hostel's such as Seacole, Touchstone, Archway (Now Gipsil) and agency work. I Joined Basis as a temporary adult worker in December 2019 and loved the way Basis worked positively with women. I applied the Navigation post and started in April, feel honoured to be a part of such positive organisation.

A little bit personal about me

I am a mother of 2 and a grandmother of 6 granddaughters, I love spending time with my family and friends. My aim in life is to travel and explore different parts of the world. My hobbies sewing, Crochet and dancing.
