Stacey Maher

Young Person's Outreach Worker since July 2018

What I do

I am the young person’s outreach worker specifically for boys and young men at risk of Child Sexual Exploitation, in Leeds and Bradford. My role involves working 1:1 with boys and young men aged 11-18 offering them support on emotional wellbeing, healthy relationships, staying safe, minimising risk and empowering them to move forward positively in their lives.

What I did before

I have worked with children and young people for over 10 years in a variety of roles in the voluntary sector. For the past 3 years I have worked specifically within the field of Child Sexual Exploitation (CSE), firstly as a preventative practitioner and trainer across West Yorkshire, secondly as a CSE support worker for girls and boys in Keighley and currently as a CSE support worker for boys and young men. I graduated in July 2015 from the University of Leeds where I am now a freelance lecturer to undergraduate students. I am currently studying a part-time PhD at The University of Huddersfield, researching victim blaming and CSE.

A little bit about me

I am a mum to 2 children and we love to travel, whether it’s jetting off abroad or sitting round a campfire together in the English Countryside! I love to cook, bake and listen to music, especially when I get to watch live gigs of my favourite band, the Foo Fighters!
