Stacey (she/her)

Sexual Abuse and Exploitation Specialist (Children and Young People)

My role

As a Sexual Abuse and Exploitation Specialist (Children and Young People) I work specifically with boys and young men who are at risk of experiencing, are currently experiencing, or have previously experienced child sexual abuse and/or exploitation. My role involves supporting boys and young men on a 1-1 basis, using a trauma informed and therapeutic approach to help empower and support them to move forward in their lives following their experiences of trauma and abuse.

My background

I have worked with children, young people, and families for over 15 years in a variety of roles in the voluntary sector across West Yorkshire. Since 2015 I have worked specifically within the field of Child Sexual Abuse and Exploitation where I have supported children and young people on a 1-1 basis, provided support to parents, facilitated training to professionals and delivered educational sessions to young people in schools. I graduated with a BA Honours Degree in July 2015 from the University of Leeds and I am currently studying a PhD at The University of Huddersfield, which aims to explore boys & young men’s experiences of moving forward after sexual abuse/exploitation.

A little bit personal about me

I am a mum to 2 teenage children. I love to read, write, bake, travel and watch TV boxsets. I also love going to live music gigs – especially when I watch my favourite band – the Foo Fighters!
