Rosie (she/her)

SWISVA Learning and Policy Influencing Lead since February 2025

My role

My role is to coordinate the learning from the SWISVA partnership between Basis, National Ugly Mugs and POW Nottingham, looking at the needs and experiences of sex workers who have experienced harm and (sexual) violence, and to use this to advocate for policy change and improved practice. I will be working with SWISVAs across each organisation to understand and share good practice with other services who work with sex workers across the legal system, healthcare, housing and beyond.

My background

I have worked in sex workers’ rights spaces since 2019, and join Basis following almost 5 years at National Ugly Mugs (with a short stint working in philanthropy in-between). Previously, I was also an academic at Sunderland University in social sciences, and worked on research around laws and labour in the UK porn industry. I am excited about combining my passion and experience around sex work with my loves of sharing knowledge and advocacy in this role.

When not at work, I spend my time theatre-making and theatre-watching, and film-making and film-watching. I have recently discovered a passion for baking sourdough bread, and am learning Italian. I share my home with my cat, Ceridwen.
