Adult Sexual Exploitation (ASE) Project offers women (16 and over) support to address and overcome experiences of sexual exploitation. The ASE Project led by Changing Lives was established in 2019 to support women who had been targeted for abuse across the North East and Yorkshire. The program was proud to co-produce a Toolkit for working with Survivors of Sexual Exploitation.
If you have and/or are still experiencing sexual exploitation, our ASE workers can support in the following ways:
- Emotional support – home visits and/or on the phone
- Recognising exploitation and managing risk
- Navigating the health system for physical and mental health needs
- Supporting you or advocating for you in multi-agency meetings
- Access to housing (refuge, supported or independent), benefits
- Access to the criminal justice system (reporting to the police, going to court)
- Moving on (accessing training, education and/or employment)
- Enabling your voices to be heard and sharing learning with key stakeholders locally and nationally
If you would like support, or are a professional looking to refer someone, please view our Referrals process to see if we are currently accepting new referrals and what is required.
The partnership is comprised of some incredible organisations: A Way Out, Ashiana, The Angelou Centre, Basis Yorkshire, WomenCentre, Together Women, GROW, and Changing Lives. Together, we form a collective voice to share the experiences of women living on the margins of society—women who have been forgotten, left behind, and judged. Each organisation within the partnership has a dedicated exploitation caseworker to support women through a trauma-responsive model of care.
Thanks to the National Lottery Community Fund, this new funding will allow us to continue our vital work, combining policy and practice to create systems change and provide trauma-informed support for those in need. Together, we are making strides towards a future where all individuals can live free from exploitation and abuse.
