Basis and Slung Low will be hosting an evening at Slung Low (Leeds) to show the award winning documentary film, Resilience on Thu. 7th Sept 2017 (6:30 – 8:30) Resilience explores the effect of adverse childhood experiences and toxic stress, for instance due to abuse and neglect – something many of our service users across all the areas of work experience. The hormones that these adverse experiences have, can wreak havoc on the brains and bodies of the children. For some, this may have lifelong implications for their mental and physical health, lead to a greater risk of homelessness, prison time and may reduce their life expectancy. After the film there will also be a brief panel discussion with Basis Yorkshire staff and an expert in the field of child psychology.
