Basis Yorkshire are proud to be part of the IMSA (Independent Modern Slavery Advocate) Model pilot program within the IMSA Model development, led by a consortium of organisations across the UK. Our motivation is driven by our ambition to make sure victims of trafficking are recognised and have access to an independent advocate, learning from Hope for Justice and the accreditation they have helped to develop.
As a specialist organisation who actively calls for an end to the conflation between trafficking and sex work, alongside a call for decriminalisation of all aspects of sex work, we are pleased to be part of this program and to share our learnings and perspective to the program and other organisations involved. We hope this is another channel to share the perspectives we have as an organisation, and from the people we work with, of the harm of conflation between trafficking and sex work causes, and the barriers this creates to people who need justice and support.
We are grateful for the support from the West Yorkshire Combined Authority for the flexibility to include this within our current grant award.
