Community Group and Volunteer Co-ordinator
My role
My role involves setting up and facilitating group work for our service users, both at our office, and in partnership with other services in Leeds. This can include setting up creative activities for our drop-in, hosting breakfast clubs at hostels, or working with partner organisations to set up workshops. I'm responsible for co-ordinating the other services that attend our drop-ins or come out with us on outreach, and liaising with groups doing research or consultations around issues that affect our clients. I also manage our wonderful team of volunteers who make so much of our work at Basis possible! And of course, the most important job of all - I'm in charge of our rotas!
My background
I studied Psychology at the University of Leeds, and before working at Basis, I worked as a social prescriber, helping connect people to the support available in their community. I also have experience working with children and young people, older adults with dementia, and vulnerable people in financial difficulty. I'm passionate about helping make services and support more accessible to those who need it most and who otherwise might be excluded or overlooked.
Outside of work, I enjoy being creative and always have some kind of craft on the go! I'm a bit of a nerd and love playing board games and D&D with my friends. I also love space and stargazing, and have even gone on solo trips to dark sky areas!
