We are very pleased to be informed that we have been successful in our application to two funding bodies.
Jimbo’s Fund have awarded us a grant which will contribute to the continuation of our Advice & Support Worker in the Basis Sex Work Project. This worker provides specialist advice and support related to welfare benefits and housing as well as contributing to our wider outreach and support services in the sex work project. Jimbo’s Fund have made a significant contributing to support our work across the sex work project and young people’s service in recent years, so a massive thank you to Jimbo’s.
We have also been successful in securing a Third Sector Health Grant, which has been awarded to us by Leeds South and East Clinical Commission Group. This will enable us to employ for one year a Health Support and Advocacy Worker to; assess unmet needs, identify and establish care pathways within local health and drugs services and build capacity and knowledge within those services about barriers faced by sex workers, their health needs locally and how to best address needs. They will work closely with a range of health services and other partners in the locality, for example Forward Leeds & PASH, to put in place good practice provisions in response to health needs of sex workers in Leeds South & East in order to improve health outcomes. This is the first time a clinical commissioning group has supported our work and we look forward to working in partnership to develop this initiative. many thanks to South and East Clinical Commissioning Group for funding this and recognizing the health needs of sex workers.
